Tooth brushes - Consumers are bombarded current marketing on why one particular toothbrush is better than another. The differences can be the shape of the head on the brush, the type of bristles, the handle, the flexibility, or the color, etc. You certainly don't want to hurt your mouth, so if you have a problem with sensitivity it would be best to ask advice from your hygienist or dentist as to what style brush would be best for you.

Electric toothbrushes have also become diverse. From high end to disposable, many have nice features, such as replaceable heads, travel chargers, and one base can be used for multiple family members.

Toothpaste- there are so many different types of toothpastes on the market. How do you decide? It depends what your goal is. There are toothpastes for whitening, sensitivity, plaque build-up, etc. If you have no problems then find one that tastes great!

Mouthwash - There are several different types of oral rinses on the market today. Some are antiseptic and anti-plaque for killing bacteria and improving your breath, some are for whitening your teeth, some use fluoride to protect against tooth decay. Here again, if you are not concerned about any single problem, find one that suits your taste. But it is generally agreed that the use of mouthwash does not eliminate the need for both brushing and flossing.

Dental floss - is used to remove food and dental plaque from teeth. The floss is gently inserted between the teeth and scraped along the teeth sides. Dental floss also has evolved to include many flavors, and waxed or unwaxed.

Water picks or oral irrigator - is a device that is used to clear away food debris from teeth using a water jet.

Tongue scrapers - assist with removing any additional food particles that can contribute to the build up of plaque.
